Posted by on December 21, 2011
Track has begun to arrive at Hopi Hari in Brazil for it’s brand new Intamin Looping Coaster. Current information suggests the ride will be similar to the current model of 10 looping coasters found in the UK and China. The ride is expected to feature a cable lift and a straight drop & curve similar to the mega-lite models before reverting back to a layout similar to the original 10 looping rides.

Sochi Park releases new model and promotional material.
Posted by on December 14, 2011
Russia’s brand new Sochi Park is due to begin under construction soon, The park forms part of 2014 Winter Olympics area and the area will host a number of sporting venues, the Olympic Shopping Centre and a proposed Formula One racing track.
The whole project is shown in a brand new model which shows off the whole site (see below) and the park itself has also started showing a video of what the park will look like once finished. To any coaster enthusiasts trained eye the coaster models and video are clearly a bit unrealistic but the park is currently expected to be building at least a Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerang and a Mack Launched Coaster.
A recording of the Sochi Park video can be seen below.

T shots include the entrance to the brightly coloured new area and plenty of what is probably the B&M with the single most incredible view in the world.

Pearl Land removes 12 rides.
Posted by on December 12, 2011
One of China’s older theme parks has begun to close twelve of their main rides. Pearl Land in Zhuhai is a fairly small park and looks like it has needed some TLC for some time.
Demolition work has started on a number of attractions and including two of the parks roller coasters, the giant ferris wheel and several flat rides. The Official reasoning is that the rides 12 year lifespan has expired although some sites report the real reason is more likely to be tougher safety rules that have recently come into force.
With the recent boom in large western style parks in China I must wonder if a small old style park like Pearl Land can survive. Especially with the new Ocean Kingdom park opening just down the road in 2013. I fear we may soon see the end of Pearl Land.
