Sun Park Opens New Motorbike Coaster.

Sun Park Opens New Motorbike Coaster.

I made a visit to Sun Park in Beijing to see if the new Chinese built motorbike coaster is up and running yet. Turns out the ride is now operating although not too well.  The ride broke down for the day not long after 3pm after failing to launch at all for about 20mins. The ride itself it pretty rough considering its brand new. But with these knock off rides it is to be expected. The ride keeps its speed better than I expected but the...

Xishuangbanna Theme Park Pony Express Train.

Xishuangbanna Theme Park is the first of Wanda’s multiple theme parks across China, The parks B&M flyer is already undergoing vertical construction and it shouldn’t be long until the Intamin water coaster and Zamperla pony express go vertical too. For now Wanda have shown of the new trains for the pony express ride and they look stunning. A step up from the ones you can currently see at Knotts. No word on the layout but as...

More Hotgo Coaster Photos.

Not much has happened this week in China in the coaster world apart from the opening of the new Hot Go park in Fushun. The Gravity Group woodie looks excellent and there’s now a great POV on the M&V Facebook page. As more and more locals visit the park pictures are starting to trickle in.  So without further ado here are a few I’ve dug up. Source:...

Hot Go Park Opens – Pictures And POV Videos.

As mentioned recently Hot Go park has now opened the first phase of its theme park. The park features 2 major coasters, a Gravity Group Terrain woodie and a Chinese built SLC. Other rides include an S&S Screaming Swing and a Disko Coaster. The park looks massively unfinished as can be seen from the inverted coaster video but it looks like a decent enough park. Sorry about the quality of the videos (I hate people who film in profile)...

Hotgo Opens Tomorrow.

Hotgo Opens Tomorrow.

One of my anticipated new parks for the year is the Hotgo Park in Fushun, China. The park has what looks like an excellent Gravity Group terrain woodie and plans to add 3 new custom Vekoma coasters over the next year. News has been slim on the ground but the official site is advertising opening day as the 20th of September. I’ve been hunting for pictures of the wooden coaster testing but have come up pretty empty handed. The only one...

SLC Rises In Baghdad.

SLC Rises In Baghdad.

Following my article earlier this year about Theme Parks in Iraq I had wondered how recent events in the region would have affected any of the new coasters. It appears at least one new ride is going forwards as a Vekoma SLC has begun to take shape at Al Zawra’a Dream Park in Baghdad. The ride is the first new standard SLC to be built in 10 years and sports a striking red and white paint job. It looks like both this ride and the parks...

New B&M Flyer Rises In China.

New B&M Flyer Rises In China.

One of this years most anticipated Chinese rides is the new B&M flyer being built at the new Wanda resort in the Chinese city of Xishuangbanna. We have seen some concept art of the layout before and the track was spotted at the B&M plant months ago but now I’ve finally found some shots of the ride under construction. I must admit I like the off green supports with the bright yellow track and it will work well with the...

Liuzhou OCT Cultural And Scientific Experience Concept Art.

Liuzhou OCT Cultural And Scientific Experience Concept Art.

With the announcement of the three Fantawild Cultural Heritage Parks it seems the Chinese park chains are starting to branch out from the traditional theme park model and create a more diverse portfolio. This trend continues with OCT, creators of the Happy Valley chain of parks and Liuzhou’s planned OCT Cultural And Scientific Experience. The park appears to be less of a thrill rides park and focuses more on the sciences but with a...

Wuhu Fantawild Cultural Heritage Park Construction.

The latest updates to Google Earth have show construction at a number of new Chinese parks. I’ve covered both Sun Tzu Cultural Park and Jinan’s version of the Fantawild Cultural Heritage Park in posts earlier this week but Google Earth also revealed the construction at the Wuhu Park. To go with that a Chinese news site has also posted images of a Chinese mine train and Vekoma Boomerang which have already been constructed at the...

Sun Tzu Cultural Park Construction

The latest updates to Google Earth have show construction at a number of new Chinese parks. Below is the construction site for Sun Tzu Cultural Park in Guangrao. The park has already put up a number of buildings and a new Chinese built splash down ride. There are clearings for the parks two new Roller Coasters which I have marked on the map. The S&S launched coaster is due to go top right while the mine train is to the left of the main...

Xindao Happy World Construction.

Xindao Happy World is another small Chinese park that is expanding thanks to recent competition. The opening of a nearby Fantwawild seems to have spurred this park into adding more rides. Unfortunately that currently consists of a standard Chinese knock off looper and what appears to be a knock off worm.  Not exactly the cream of the crop when it comes to new roller coasters but I guess every little helps. More Lewa World Coasters Go Vertical.

Construction is picking up at Lewa World in China with two more coasters vertical. The park appear to have gone with the standard chinese curry brown/orange combo for their SLC and it looks like a new family coaster is also on its way up. Still no sign of that elusive Mack though. Google Earth Update Hints At Jinan’s New Gravity Group Woodie Layout.

Google Earth Update Hints At Jinan’s New Gravity Group Woodie Layout.

It has been really quiet on the China news front these last few weeks with very little news on any of the major projects currently going up around the country. Today’s update comes from an unlikely source. When Google Earth recently updated their maps for lots of China they managed to get good snaps of some of the new parks including the Fantawild Heritage Park being built in Jinan. The shots below show off the new park as well as...

Taolin Happy World Construction.

This is a new one on me but it looks like theres yet another small park opening in China. This one is heading to the city of Yangquan and will be called Taolin Happy World. The park is pretty small and is constructing one of the standard Chinese quad looping coasters. The ride is already on it’s way up in it’s unpainted state. Below is one construction shot and some images of the park plan. Source:...

Before you ask, No there’s still no sign of the Mack megas coaster. However a number of other coasters have arrived on the massive Lewa World construction site. The Chinese built mine train and Boomerang are already up and it looks like the (Also Chinese built) family coaster, SLC and looping coaster are on site. This place looks like a pretty good catalog of available Chinese coasters at the moment. Below are some shots that were...

Hot Go Park Construction.

The construction of Hot Go Park in Fushun is well under way now. We have previously seen shots of the massive Gravity Group woodie and now we have some shots of the flat rides in the park. It looks like the park have gone for a set of real S&S swings as well as a knock off SLC. Some of the parks architecture looks reminiscent of Gaudí work in Barcelona. No sign of the woodie in this latest update but it must be nearly done now. Looks...

Romon World in Ningbo, China is coming along well with the indoor sections starting to take shape. The stunning pictures below show the level of detail going into the large indoor park as well as parts of the appropriately named “Travel Through Europe” Intamin looper diving into trench next to a viewing area. It looks like the outdoor section is nearly complete but it looks like there’s still a way to go until the indoor...

China Plans Hello Kitty Theme Park.

Another day and another new park for China, This one is planned for Hangzhou and is on the smaller side. As far as I can tell doesn’t feature a coaster but there are a number of smaller rides including a great looking ferris wheel and a boat ride. There will be a large on site hotel and as a whole the concept looks great. This is the first large scale park since the first park in Japan and its sure to pull a decent crowd as Hello...

Is This The Worst Coaster Transition Ever?

Is This The Worst Coaster Transition Ever?

Back in the day Arrow and Vekoma were known for making some pretty dodgy transitions between elements. A Japanese manufacturer called Meisho was arguably the king of the awkward transition for a while in the 90s but I don’t think any of them hold a candle to some of the new Chinese manufacturers on the block. Century Amusement Park in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou installed a Hebei Zhongye knock off SLC in 2013 but the ride kept...
